Importing your existing notes

You can bring notes you already keep about your team into LetEmily, either for one person on Free, or, on Pro, for your whole team at once. You review every note before anything is saved, and you can undo a completed import.

How do I import notes for one person?

Open that person’s profile and choose to import notes. You can paste text directly or upload a CSV file. This is available on both Free and Pro.

  1. Open the team member’s profile.
  2. Choose Import notes.
  3. Paste your notes, or upload a CSV file.
  4. Review each note LetEmily found, including the date it detected.
  5. Select Import to save the notes to that person’s profile.

How do I import notes for my whole team at once?

This is a Pro feature. Instead of one person’s profile, you paste or upload notes covering several people, and LetEmily attempts to match each note to the right team member by name or email.

Anything it cannot match confidently is flagged so you can choose the person yourself, or leave that note out.

What happens during review?

Nothing is saved until you confirm. Each note is shown with its status: ready to add, already there and skipped as a duplicate, needs a person chosen, or left out. You can include or exclude any note before importing.

  • A date at the start of a line splits your pasted notes into separate entries.
  • If LetEmily cannot tell which date a note is from, it is still imported, just without a date attached.
  • Notes that already exist are detected and skipped automatically, so importing the same file twice will not create duplicates.

Can I undo an import?

Yes. After a completed import, an Undo import option removes the notes it added. If you have already edited an imported note, that one is kept rather than removed, since it now reflects something you wrote yourself.

Is there a limit to how much I can import?

No. There is no limit on the total number of notes you can import over time.

Common questions

Do I need to format my notes a specific way?

No. Paste your notes as plain text and LetEmily looks for a date at the start of each line to split them; anything it cannot split confidently is kept as one note.

Will importing notes create a duplicate of something I already wrote in LetEmily?

No. Notes that match something already on file are detected and skipped, and shown to you as duplicates during review.

Can I import notes for someone who is not yet in LetEmily?

Add that person first, either manually or through a team import, then import their notes onto their profile.
